PATRONUS STUDY SESSION
At the request of Olivia Sanchez, over the next two weeks, Ms. Lilywhite will be running open sessions helping students to cast the Patronus charm. The cafeteria is cleared for an hour every weekday after dinner, and any student is welcome to drop in to learn. As senior DADA students, Casper Kim and Mackenzie Prince are on hand to assist Ms. Lilywhite in guiding the lessons.

HOW THIS WORKS
Fill out this form if your character takes Occlumency or attends the extra study sessions:

Year: Sophomore/Junior/Senior
Patronus Form: It can change from the last time we asked you either in memes or on your app, but this will be your official “canon” answer. Please try to commit to this decision.
Why?: What does this animal mean, or why is it significant to them?
Their happy memory: What memory finally worked for them?
Their attempt: Any other notes on how it went for them? Did they already succeed last year?
Are they in DADA, Occlumency or D&F?: This contributes to the likelihood of their success.
- Lessons take place after dinner for an hour every week day, except Wednesdays for D&F. Students are not required to attend every session. Because these sessions take place over 2 weeks, if your character is successful you can choose when they finally cast the charm.
- If your character attends these sessions or takes DADA, they will at least learn what their patronus will be and will get a partial formation. The mods will roll to see if your character can cast a successful full-bodied patronus.
- Occlumency students are presumed to already be well-versed with this spell, as it requires emotional control and self-awareness, which are invaluable skills in Occlumency, especially if you plan on becoming an Auror. Unless you choose otherwise, all Occlumency students automatically succeed, or can already cast the charm.
Occlumency students: Automatic success.
Seniors in DADA: 75% success.
Seniors not in DADA: 50% success.
Juniors in DADA: 65% success.
Juniors not in DADA: 40% success.
Sophomores in DADA: 55% success.
Sophomores not in DADA: 30% success. - If your character has been in Duelling & Fencing since at least last month (i.e. they're currently on the roster, you may not just sign up your character for D&F today to get the bonus), they'll earn a 10% bonus to their roll.
- You can check if your character failed or succeeded last year by looking at this post.
- If your character fails, you may ask for a reroll in the dropbox after waiting one week, but you must also link to a conversation or scene with evidence they sought tutoring from a DADA Student in their year or above, or an Occlumency student.
- They'll gain +15% to their roll if they seek tutoring from Casper or Mackenzie, who received instructions from Ms. Lilywhite on techniques to help others master this complex charm.
- You may not claim your character can already cast a patronus unless they succeeded during last year's event or are in Occlumency. This applies to new characters as well as returning ones.

MICAH!!!
Year: JUNIOR JAY
Patronus Form: Stingray
Why?: I'm going to copy/paste from last year sorry!!!! Stingrays are intelligent and curious, social but independent (many species group together in schools but stingrays don't pair bond). Micah's personality is very flamboyant, which is a contrast to the way rays camouflage themselves on the ocean floor, but that might just be a hint to how much Micah hides his true thoughts and feelings behind loud jokes and obnoxious behaviour.
Their happy memory: Well, Micah had been kind of hoping it'd be his first victory as a Seeker buuuuut that's not on the table. It's difficult to hunt down one purely happy memory—his happiest moments this summer are coloured by the breakup in September, and even the most exhilarating rides on his motorcycle carry the memory of loss with them. He gets the closest when reliving seeing his friends again on Sept 1: his roommates, the girls in their counterpart dorm, Hazel and Ana and Cole and Ari and... Calvin, surprising him on the bus.
Their attempt: He failed at this last year because he wasn't taking it too seriously. Micah has incentive now, and does his best to buckle down and listen whenever Lilywhite is speaking. Micah's "best" still involves him occasionally running off to whisper with his friends or ooh and ahh over their cute Patronuses.
