happy birthday addy

Sometime in the evening, when Iliya has been assured by Kenzie that her roommates are in their cabin, he makes the hike up Azurcrest hill with his cello on his back. Without saying a word to anyone he passes, Iliya conjures a chair and takes a seat outside the Azurcrest senior girls' cabin, and starts playing.
He'd been tempted to play one of the composers he'd mentioned to Addy, but he didn't want to risk messing up something complicated. Besides, Bach's Cello Suite No. 6 is more joyful, as befitting a birthday, and Rostropovich's Bach is probably his most famous recording.
Outside a cabin isn't the ideal acoustic conditions, but once he starts, nothing else matters but the music. Play happy, he orders himself. For Adeline's birthday. Happiness has been on his mind lately, with the Patronus lessons, but with his bow in his hand... it seems more achievable. Iliya plays through the gavottes, and finishes off with the gigue. Once done, he puts his cello back into its case, and starts heading back to Ebonhide.

When it's over, before he can escape entirely, Addy hurries out on to the balcony, and if he looks around, he'll see his one-person audience applauding in thanks.

But she'll tell the story about the cellist, it's nice.
