SCHOOL TRIP: Seniors

Ah, Paris. The city of love. This weekend it will be host to Gooseberry's senior class as part of their school trip. The weather's a little rainy, but not cold. The clouds and afternoon drizzles add a bit to the ambience.

Students are given packets that contain their hotel room key, museum pass, allowance, a map of the city and its Floo network, the itinerary, and a basic list of rules. For the most part, it looks like they'll have a lot of freedom, so long as they don't break any rules. "We want you to explore the city as independent young adults," says Mr. Calderon-Boot. "We're trusting you, so don't let us down."

HOW THIS WORKS

The senior class is going to Paris, France! They'll be staying at the Hotel Les Theatres. Rooms can either have two twin beds, two queen sized beds, or one queen sized bed.

Staff presence: Mr. Calderon-Boot, Mr. Merrill, Ms. Lilywhite

Students will have to go through international magical customs, so they can't have any contraband in their bags, such as weapons or drugs. They will be travelling via the Floo network to the Parisian Magical Transportation & Travel Station, after which they'll be taken to their hotel.

For the two non-travel days, in the morning there will be a set school activity that's mandatory, and in the evenings students can do whatever they want to.
- Friday: Palace of Versailles, the Catacombs. Students leave at 9:00 AM, and return to the hotel at 3:00 PM
- Saturday: Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, Notre Dame. Students leave to see the city at 9:00 AM, and return to the hotel at 3:00 PM
Students are given an allowance of €40 (~$50) per day for food and leisure. They have student passes to get into museums, gardens, etc. with no charge, and the hotel has a free continental breakfast. Any room charges will come out of your character's allowance. They may spend their own personal money however they please.

The staff are aware that many of the seniors are of legal drinking age in France. They simply ask students not to overdo it, and to contact a staff member if they ever get stranded or drink too much. They won't get in trouble.

Curfew is 12:00 AM. Teachers will come through to make sure everyone is in their rooms. Reid Wainwright has a curfew of 10:00 PM as a consequence of skipping Cotillion.

Nia holds up the bottle of Tears for Rears in one hand. "Me," she says after knocking back a pregame shot with the other.

There's something to be admired in a nail polish collection this atrocious. Ursula's attention is immediately drawn to one of the buttles, wrinkling her nose up as she turns it in her hand to examine it. "Does anyone's butt actually look like this?" One pregame shot in, she's maybe more willing to run her finger over the impressive curvature than she normally would be.

Ursula doesn't want to think too hard about this headline... but she muses over it for longer than she'd like anyway.

Right. Questions. Might as well get the cheap shots in early. "New year, new Casey. Any lingering feelings for Rosy?"

Ursula's less sure about what buttons to press for Riley, so instead she opts for questioning her on a topic she knows that Riley will appreciate. "Someone brought up the best breasts at Cotillion on the Anon Post, so now I'm curious. Top breasts, each house."

Riley looks at her nails as she answers. "Chloe when she's not hiding them under, like, smush bras and whatever, my girl January can get it, Addy knows she's too hot to stop, and..." She pauses for a second, evaluating a list that has no doubt been revised several times over her time at this school, "Ari. I'll be her Hamlet any day, you know what."

"Hey girl, what's your love stuff smell like?" She's talking about Amortentia, but, like, she's not about to make that obvious.

"Mine does when I got the right cheer spanx on." Riley grabs a ~~bottle~~ buttle of Ass Sassin' to admire it herself. It's a nice booty. "Wanna see for yourself?" This is a bad question, Riley.

Nia, Nia, Nia. Considering you're raising a trio of children together, you're not the most open book, but Ursula will start things off with a silly question. "Which of the children is your favorite?"

"Alright, alright, alright," Nia's not drunk, already. Honest. "Who, in our class, would you not make out with?"

"Which one of your roommates do you think is hottest?" She seems like she's done, but then quickly adds, "Excluding you."

Where's the camera? Because Nia looks right at it. A straight-up Jim Halpert face.

"Like half the perfumes and colognes in the school. Li--flowers. And, like," her face scrunches up as she recalls her most recent dance with Amortentia. "Cigarettes and olive oil, last time I smelled it? Weird as fuck."

"Kriley," she says without hesitation. "I appreciate her willingness to wait for exactly what she wants. And what she wants is a tacky as hell new shell."

Unicorn Farts is a beautiful idea, and Addy a little wants to paint her nails even before the festivities start. She holds back, and instead takes a first pre-game shot of her own. She's ready for this.

"And who in the school are you making out with like, regularly?"

Addy questions very quickly after Nia. It's good to know the paths people are travelling.

"HOTTEST person you've seen in France so far?" Addy's distracted by his polish stories and goes with the most obvious thing. Maybe her questions will get better later.

"If you have a favorite crab, do you," Addy pauses to reach out a falsely accusatory finger, "ALSOOOO have a favorite SUBJECT, Queen Nia?"
It's probably not the first time Addy's addressed her as such since her Maleficent debut.

"If we WERE in Ibiza and not France, and we WERE staring at half-clothed pizza purveyors, who would you MOST like to be delivering it right now?"

Addy wrinkles her nose a bit. Now she wants pizza.

Reece is supposed to take his girlfriend on a Parisian date and has no idea what to do so he might ask Webster for advice :x

After spending much of the afternoon in the catacombs beneath Paris, an endeavor which had seemed more morbid than actually interesting in his opinion since the history behind the ossuary is relatively simple, Lachlan is more than ready to do something fun! He'd considered going to a museum or to a garden to try his luck at spotting some of the local birds, but then he'd remembered Jaime's ice skating situation and asked the other boy and some of their classmates to accompany him to Patinoire Sonja Henie for a little practice instead.

Now, sitting beside the other boy and lacing up his rented skates, he smiles. "Dinnae worry, mate. You'll probably be a natural; pick it up in no time at all." It's a stupid thing to say. Jaime isn't the type to worry about things like this. He is the type to worry about things like this. But oh well. Laces neatly and securely tied, he stands up and balances easily on the blades and looks at his roommate.

TAKE MY STUPID CHILD. and yes starting with a break from dancing sounds good! maybe they're taking a break at the bar? we can figure out the movie stuff later if we get to it! or just do a separate thread later, w/e

Ursula intends to spit out a firm negative, but instead what comes out is "...I'm not drunk enough for that yet."

Ursula does not want anything described as Farts gracing her nails, so Addy can keep that bottle as far as she's concerned. "How completely satisfying was the look on your ex's face when he saw you and Nia at Cotillion?"

Ursula taps her chin as she envisions her ideal school trip scenario. "His name would be Sergio and he wouldn't speak a lick of English and he'd be built like...," she trails off and her eyes fall on Casey. Yes, he'd do nicely. An excellent pizza delivery system specimen.. but perhaps not who she'd most like to walk through those doors right now.

"Ferdie. Sorry. That's an answer change. Not. He can keep his shirt on, but." Her speech is halting, embarrassed, and she buries her face in her hands, "Uggggh, I'm such a schoolgirl with a crush. I just wish he'd been able to come."

Screw the rules, she takes a shot. "...Now that I would mind if he forgot the shirt," she adds, not wanting to ruin the revelry with mooning over a boy half a world away.

"Once upon a time he was a journalist," she begins. "Not terribly exciting, really, until he was killed by Prince Bonaparte while delivering a challenge of a duel. He'd been acting as someone else's second, you see, but supposedly talked back to the prince. So bam," she pokes Ulysses in the side for emphasis, "shot dead on the spot. This stirred up no small amount of political outrage, and he became a martyr."

She's trying to make their path seem casual, but at the same time, Mackenzie is eager to locate the highlights of the sprawling graveyard. Ulysses seems more than happy to humor her, and Mackenzie thinks the company can't be beat. "So naturally, they made him a monument. It's right in this cemetery, and there's a superstition surrounding it. Can you guess what it is?" Her face does that thing where the corners of her lips turn up just a bit, despite her attempt to appear unreadable. It's her tell; this is absolutely some sort of (possibly mean) joke.

It's fairly late by the time they've arrived in Paris and settled into the Hotel Les Theatres but that doesn't bother Casper much. He isn't particularly interested in hitting the tourist traps (and it sounds like the school schedule has that covered for them anyway) and he doesn't mind the idea of wandering through a dark, unfamiliar city. It actually sounds pretty fucking great. And he can be back well before curfew.

So, after dropping off his things and grabbing his cell phone and slipping on a leather jacket that will be more than a match for the mild drizzle, he heads for the hotel entrance.
