SHINNY GAME 2: LAKE GOOSEBERRY KILLERS V. BILLYWIG BRUSIERS

It's time for game two of the Lake Gooseberry Shinny League, and as everyone arrives they're notified that their team names have changed but their colors have stayed the same! Why? Because you're living in a dictatorship, kiddos! Organizers Hazel Keating and Rosemary Stoker remain captains, just to drive that point home. Hazel is also wearing her birthday crown from the mask making party on top of her helmet.
Unlike last time, the game is in the evening after dinner because of the dance tomorrow, meaning it's a whole lot colder than last time. The freshman who have beenforced coaxed into manning the hot chocolate table look even less pleased than last time, but they'll live. Despite the lake being more frozen, Mr. Thorn has still laid down neon yellow markers to indicate the areas where skaters are least likely to fall in and die. A red rectangle has been charmed into the ice to show the rink’s boundaries, and two piles of snow connected by a thick blue line in the ice make up the goals. Floating orbs light the "rink" and stands well enough that no one should have too many problems, and just to help out a bit more the puck lightly glows for visibility.
Before they begin, the rules are explained to everyone. If you know what's good for you, you won't try to push your luck with these girls.

GENERAL RULES
- No wands on the ice except for the referee.
- Players must abide by the Personal Contact Policies
- Any player found to be ignoring the badge system will be immediately ejected from the game.
- Players are not allowed to administer contact beyond their own level. (ex. Green badges cannot check Red badges and vice-versa.)
- There are no positions or goalies.
- As the teams are so large, the game duration has been extended to two hours to allow each player ample time on the ice. Each player will spend at least 10 minutes on the bench (with 7–8 benched at a time).
- Helmets and mouthguards are mandatory for all players, any other padding is left to the discretion of the student. Figure skates are not allowed for safety reasons.
- For their safety, no students are allowed to cross the neon yellow markers.
As they arrive, each player is reminded of their team assignment and is given a pinny in the color of their team (red on orange for the Lake Gooseberry Killers and black on blue for the Billywig Bruisers) and their Choose-Your-Bruise badge. Every badge is in the shape of a circle. They're also informed that the gameplay has changed to shake things up a bit.

HOW THIS WORKS:
- You can still sign up any time in the season! The cut off is two days before individual games to give the organizers time to balance the teams, but the season is always open.
- The puck drops at 7:00pm. Push the tiny thing towards the larger thing and try not to let anybody else get it!
- Fill out the form posted under the appropriate team heading to find out how your character did. Did they score? Did they get hurt? Did they fall through the ice? (Probably no one will fall through the ice. Probably.)
- For this game, the pucks are charmed to have a mind of their own, like a much less horrifying Bludger!
- This means that handling it is a lot harder, and every goal attempt has a chance of the puck deciding that it wants to score on your own goal.
- The referee for this match is Clementine Decourt. She's been authorized to blow that whistle as loud as she possibly can, so listen to her if you value your eardrums.
- There's a slight chance your character might get hurt! (Less than last time, we want these kids to look cute for their dance.) Healer Mufferaw is on the sidelines to handle any injuries the kids might sustain on the ice, but minor cuts and bruises might be handled by Pre-Healer Studies students!
- Goals and injuries will be reported by either
browbeats or
lilwitchhazel
- The final scores will be determined 7:00 PM MST Monday, December 18! Characters can still check in to see how they did and whether or not they were injured, but any goals they score will not count toward the final score.

Temporary benches for spectators have been set up on the shore, and all students and staff are welcome to cheer on their favorite team. Blankets and warming charms are recommended, and hot chocolate is available. Snuggle up, wave flags, show blatant favoritism!

TEAM 1. THE LAKE GOOSEBERRY KILLERS
Play: How are they playing today? You might mention if they’re particularly offensive or defensive and if they’re improving. Perhaps they’re worked up, and break the rules by accident? Are they trying to deal contact to anybody in particular?
Are you okay with being injured? If yes, there’s a slight chance your character may be injured. If not, the invisible hand of fate will keep your lucky child safe for another day.
- GREEN: Falling on butts. Sore faces from gloating grins about feeling a'right.
- ORANGE: Mild bruising, existential crises at potential pointlessness of existence.
- PURPLE: No broken bones is the best we can guarantee.
- RED: Uh you won't die and you *probably* won’t break an arm. Broken noses are fair game, though.
Score: Rate their performance on a scale from 1-10.#27 FERN MUFFERAW
Play: Fern is distracted today, not quite on her best game, and not as vicious as usual. Still, she is one of the veteran hockey players, so don't let your guard down.
Are you okay with being injured? Y

GOALS
#39 Reid Wainwright
Play: Reid's his normal, quietly aggressive self, but after a morning spent shovelling snow and going to Quidditch practice, he's flagging a bit this afternoon. He's more liable to zone out when no one is demanding his attention, and probably lets the puck just sail right past him once. It's frustratingly reminiscent of him as sophomore year Seeker.
Are you okay with being injured? Yes!
Score: 7
GOALS & REID INJURED!
REID INJURED!
#35 Sylvester Stoker
Play: Thank fuck for magical healing, because Sy's bones are all whole and ready to knock someone's skull into hard ice. (Yes, Rosy, he's obeying the badge system.) He'll take offense again, and looks particularly delighted today to see the new name on his jersey. He plans to make good on it. The charmed puck frustrate him, and he isn't going to be much good at keeping them away from their own goal, but he's focused and determined to fuck up any Bruisers trying to stop the puck from scoring on them.
Are you okay with being injured? I offer my child as a sacrifice.
Score: 10. i was honestly going to score him lower but Rosy naming the team THE LAKE GOOSEBERRY KILLERS is giving Sy new life. he's so happy.
i hope his baby girl is watching this game and she's proud of themGOALS
Re: #35 Sylvester Stoker
#37 Spencer Sweet
Play: Having fun!!! Skating in literal circles around his friends assuming they don't get mad and trip him for being a jerk!!! Spencer's putting more effort into the game than last time, but that's not saying a lot. He's probably going to bluntly ask someone "What's up with the new team names?" but honestly isn't overly invested in knowing the answer.
Are you okay with being injured? Do it.
Score: OFF THE CHARTS for skating, but still a 6 for actually playing.
GOALS
#25 Essie Morales-Tran!!!
Play: Well, ESSIE didn't have to do any shoveling today!!!!!!! But she also is maybe running entirely fueled by candy and that's maybe not GREAT??? Also she's having a blast chasing the puck around but it's like a game of TAG and not really like.. oh hey, maybe try to put that in a goal.
Are you okay with being injured? Yes. A sling would really go with ther ghost outfit.
Score: EEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. 5.
GOALS
#29 Tuesday North
Play: She's having fun! STILL not QUITE as fun as Quidditch would be, but she's starting to really catch on to skating! Balance and grace are the same in the air as on the ice! This is fun! Okay, so maybe she gets slightly distracted by trying to do skate tricks instead of air tricks. She'll try her best to put in a couple goals, but has anyone ever tried using the sticks as POLES to VAULT OFF? No, she shouldn't either???
Are you okay with being injured? YEP

#19 Paris Holloway
Play: Not a fan of stickhandling in general, the puck having a mind of its own is getting a lot of très irritated utterances of "gosh darn it" and "oh fer geez"!! She'll stick to trying to knock people on their behinds, merci!!
Are you okay with being injured? Yes, always.

PARIS INJURED!
#3 Ferdinand Ayers
Play: Possibly even worse than last time. IS that possible? He's distracted by a million other loose ends that have to be tied up, and he's pretty exhausted.Plus he can't bring himself to care entirely about being super competitive about a physical sport game. He's still skating around meekly trying to defend the goals. That counts as "playing!"
Are you okay with being injured? Honestly just kill him

#23 Heathcliff Lacey
Play: Heathcliff is SO DONE with school right now and SO READY to have fun playing sports and slamming into other people and getting out his excess energy. Let's do this! He's playing offensively, getting rough with other players and trying to get to the goal as often as he can.
Are you okay with being injured? YEP.

HEATHCLIFF INJURED!
#1 Rosemary Stoker
Play: Rosy's an aggressive player, even while playing largely defense, and she might seem like she's trying to live up to her new team name. She's quick and fierce and tries to always have an eye on the puck when she's not knocking people over. She was prepared for the frustrating puck and honestly finds it really funny to watch people struggle with it.
Are you okay with being injured? Murder.
Score: Marin's taunt worked and I'm not letting Rosy get less than Sy. 10.

# 21 Concordia Knight
Play: Rough! She’s offensive, literally trying to murder the opposition! Except she’s really friendly about it. She’s screaming cheers at her teammates and generally playing hard.
Are you okay with being injured? Yes

#31 Antonia Papadakis
Play: She's got Gin Blossoms stuck in her head and she won't stop singing Hey Jealousy at everyone, which should give you a general idea of how focused she is on the game.
Are you okay with being injured? Break her
Score: 5
GOALS
#11 Jaime Castillo
Play: Jaime's still terrible at skating, and he's a little distracted because of the candygram drama yesterday. And he's still not sure if the long candygram he received was just someone messing with him or not; both possibilities bother him. He's at least not horribly frustrated when the puck does whatever it wants.
Are you okay with being injured? Yep!
Score: 4
GOALS & JAIME INJURED
JAIME INJURED!
#9 Phineas Bones
Play: Phin knows what's up this time. He's playing somewhat aggressively and throwing his weight around to get at that puck, but he's still not super experienced and probably not the most graceful on the ice. Eventually he realizes he's a bit better at playing defensively and trying to anticipate Billywig attacks. He's also somewhat distractible, as usual, and is easily waylaid by horsing around or trash talk.
Are you okay with being injured? Y.

Play: SHE'S TRYING VERY HARD AND SHE'S VERY HAPPY TO BE PLAYING SPORTS MULTIPLE TIMES THIS WEEK

Score: Rate their performance on a scale from 1-10.#2 Hazel Keating
Play: This game Hazel is a little more focused on helping out her teammates, despite the fact that the puck is less agreeable this go around. She's very offensive, but she does make more of a point to pass and to yell (mostly encouraging) instructions to her team! She's a little tired from both shoveling snow and cheer practice, but that hasn't cut into her pep at all. Hazel also maybe goes for Sy a little bit more than usual.
Are you okay with being injured? YEP
Score: 9, but just barely, she's tired :(

HAZEL INJURED!
#12 Calvin Evercreech
Play: Calvin is going to try playing defensively this time! He's not above wielding his green badge manipulatively, either, knowing that all of the best players have to play nice with him or else. Time to test his theory if that makes him an extra effective obstacle. That said, candygrams have him a little scrambled, and he gets awkward (more awkward???) when in close proximity to Todd, Micah, and any exchange students he once went to school with.
Are you okay with being injured? He deserves it.
Score: 6

#4 Ira Ashworth
Play: Ira's preettyyy tired after Coppershovel, CopperQuidditch, and just because of midterms induced sleep deprivation. But he's chugged a pre-game cup of coffee or two, and he's good to go now. He's a little less rusty, after last time, but still not perfect. He'll continue focusing on offense. He probably plays around just a little more, and seems more relaxed now that the ever-looming 3.9 has been avoided for one more semester.
Are you okay with being injured? OH YEP
Score: Still 7!

#20 Casper Kim
Play: Casper is playing about as well as he was last game. He's still very aggressive and he's still playing a blend of defense and offense, focusing on taking out anyone that gets too close to his team's goal but also taking opportunities to break for the other goal if they come his way. He's visibly irritated by one of the new names and may be taking it out on everyone in general.
