MEXICO

MEXICO

The wedding guests have all been expected to arrange beforehand with a representative of the Ramirez estate regarding when they plan to arrive, or if it's with Rafael or Reece themselves. If they're arriving later, a time and place will be scheduled where a man or woman in fashionable business attire greets them, and directs them to a portkey, which will deposit them outside of where they will be staying.

The home that has been lent to Rafael and his friends is jaw-droppingly huge and elaborate. There are enough rooms for everyone to have their own space, and Anita Ramirez seems mildly distressed that her initial plans to have a girls wing and and boys wing isn't going to work out as chastely as she planned. Still, she greets the teenagers with graceful poise, and assures them that she'll have someone check in on them from time to time. (Is that a warning or...?)

But now you're at liberty to explore the home, and Mexico at large. Anyone who arrives before the wedding itself is invited to stay busy enjoying a free vacation in Mexico with one obscenely wealthy teen as their host.

The house is three stories, with plenty of bedrooms, sitting rooms, balconies, dining rooms and bathrooms. And, of course, a pool. The kitchen is fully stocked, and there's alcohol available, although Rafael initially seems anxious about getting into it. Apparently his parents gave him a talk about not being a wanton lush this vacation. (But what they don't know can't hurt them, right?) There are also two friendly maids who come by and keep the place clean, in addition to two house elves. No one will need to lift a finger this week.

SCHEDULE
  • Monday the 20th: First arrivals.

  • Tuesday the 21st through Thursday the 23: Being tourists.

  • Friday the 24th: The bachelor party.

  • Saturday the 25th: The wedding.

  • Sunday the 26th: Going home.

» The house: Explore the mansion that you're staying in, enjoy the luxurious rooms, take a dip in the pool. Rafael explains in an offhanded manner that this is not the house he grew up in, so none of you need to worry about making out in his old childhood bedroom.

» the beach: While the mansion is not directly on the beach (it's actually surrounded by fragrant, lush greenery), it's only a small walk down a cobbled street to the beach. Along the way you pass a patisserie ran by an old witch and wizard. They speak enough English to make purchasing treats or breakfast here easy for non-Spanish speakers. Photographers are sometimes seen in the area, particularly after a visit from Rafael's parents, but otherwise their interest in Rafael himself is mild.

» being tourists: In the days leading up to the wedding, Rafael is excited to show his friends Mexico, and let them indulge in their vacation like tourists without a budget. Feel free to make up other activities, but few spots of note are:
  • Uxmal. Beautiful ruins in the middle of the jungle.

  • Xel-Há. An "aquatic water park." Swimming, snorkelling, cliff jumping, animals, tubing down natural rivers.

  • The historic center of Mexico City. Architecture and museums.

  • Clubbing. Rafael can go to one (1) club without getting in trouble. Everyone else is welcome to enjoy the nightlife more than that if they like.

» The bachelor party: Ricardo does nothing by halves. Everyone's invited to the bachelor party, where there will be dancers, live music, and lots of alcohol. No one is carding Rafael or his friends. The bachelor party is taking place on a private beach that's being watched carefully. There are a few tough looking wizards and witches keeping an especially close eye on Rafael and his guests. Thanks, mom and dad.

» the wedding: The wedding is taking place at a luxury hotel that is partially left in ruin for that slightly decayed, antique look that the Ramirez family seems to like so much. Press are present, snapping photos and writing eagerly about the ceremony. Afterwards there's a reception that's much looser, and the press are not allowed in. There's an open bar, and no one's getting carded.

Cecil Honeychurch

By popular demand, Cecil is playing with juice! It's a little embarrassing, but he's glad to be included in the game. Probably. He'll try not to just drink his juice all night.

What a dork.

"Honeybee," Quinn places a serious hand on his shoulder. If this were Chris he'd be about to get a very drunk heart-to-heart, but instead, she asks, "Which honey– bumble– ... bee-bee... is your favourite bee?" She evidently knows a lot about bees. She demands names.

Cecil leans in a little when Quinn puts her hand on his shoulder, not knowing what to expect. This isn't it. He blinks at her. "Which...kind of bee or which individual bee?" If Quinn thinks the thousands of bees in his hive have individual names, she will be very disappointed.

She hopes his favourite bees at least have names. "Individuals." It sounds like a challenge.

The logistics of that would be a nightmare, Quinn. Cecil feels a little guilty when he shakes his head and admits plainly, "I don't have a favorite bee?"
quinning: (= you're crazy)

Quinn blinks. "Does that count as a shot of juice? Everyone has a favourite bee, Cecil. Everyone."

Ravi, who is only mildly drunk at this point, chimes in, "I have a favourite bee. It's Cecil."

Quinn hushes Ravi with an urgent shhh! and bumps her shoulder against his. "That was the punchline!" 'Mildly,' indeed.

Diego, who is quite tipsy, dissolves into laughter. "Mine too!" can just barely be made out.

Cecil laughs at this, obviously amused and touched by his silly drunk friends, "Thank you." He then pats the hand that Quinn placed on his shoulder apologetically. "Sorry. It was an excellent setup, though? You can ask me something else if you want."

Cecil smiles sheepishly at this and considers. There are so many to choose from. Then...he seems to remember something, blushes, looks briefly over at Levi, and shakes his head. Nope. He takes a (totally consequence free) drink. Sorry guys.

Diego's face is the picture of """innocence""" as he asks a question he's pretty sure will make Cecil take a shot of juice. Best friend privilege. "Have you ever gotten your clothes or hair or something caught on one of Levi's piercings while kissing him?"

Faint color rises in Cecil's cheeks immediately, but...he doesn't reach for the juice. He's already failed to answer two questions (sort of), so. So. He nods. "Yeah. Um. Once or twice."

Diego laughs again, which seems to come easily to him when he drinks. He partially collapses against Ravi's shoulder, giggling, and weakly claps a few times. "Thank you."
