MEXICO

MEXICO
The wedding guests have all been expected to arrange beforehand with a representative of the Ramirez estate regarding when they plan to arrive, or if it's with Rafael or Reece themselves. If they're arriving later, a time and place will be scheduled where a man or woman in fashionable business attire greets them, and directs them to a portkey, which will deposit them outside of where they will be staying.

The home that has been lent to Rafael and his friends is jaw-droppingly huge and elaborate. There are enough rooms for everyone to have their own space, and Anita Ramirez seems mildly distressed that her initial plans to have a girls wing and and boys wing isn't going to work out as chastely as she planned. Still, she greets the teenagers with graceful poise, and assures them that she'll have someone check in on them from time to time. (Is that a warning or...?)

But now you're at liberty to explore the home, and Mexico at large. Anyone who arrives before the wedding itself is invited to stay busy enjoying a free vacation in Mexico with one obscenely wealthy teen as their host.
The house is three stories, with plenty of bedrooms, sitting rooms, balconies, dining rooms and bathrooms. And, of course, a pool. The kitchen is fully stocked, and there's alcohol available, although Rafael initially seems anxious about getting into it. Apparently his parents gave him a talk about not being a wanton lush this vacation. (But what they don't know can't hurt them, right?) There are also two friendly maids who come by and keep the place clean, in addition to two house elves. No one will need to lift a finger this week.

» The house: Explore the mansion that you're staying in, enjoy the luxurious rooms, take a dip in the pool. Rafael explains in an offhanded manner that this is not the house he grew up in, so none of you need to worry about making out in his old childhood bedroom.
» the beach: While the mansion is not directly on the beach (it's actually surrounded by fragrant, lush greenery), it's only a small walk down a cobbled street to the beach. Along the way you pass a patisserie ran by an old witch and wizard. They speak enough English to make purchasing treats or breakfast here easy for non-Spanish speakers. Photographers are sometimes seen in the area, particularly after a visit from Rafael's parents, but otherwise their interest in Rafael himself is mild.
» being tourists: In the days leading up to the wedding, Rafael is excited to show his friends Mexico, and let them indulge in their vacation like tourists without a budget. Feel free to make up other activities, but few spots of note are:
» The bachelor party: Ricardo does nothing by halves. Everyone's invited to the bachelor party, where there will be dancers, live music, and lots of alcohol. No one is carding Rafael or his friends. The bachelor party is taking place on a private beach that's being watched carefully. There are a few tough looking wizards and witches keeping an especially close eye on Rafael and his guests. Thanks, mom and dad.
» the wedding: The wedding is taking place at a luxury hotel that is partially left in ruin for that slightly decayed, antique look that the Ramirez family seems to like so much. Press are present, snapping photos and writing eagerly about the ceremony. Afterwards there's a reception that's much looser, and the press are not allowed in. There's an open bar, and no one's getting carded.

THE HOUSE
WEDNESDAY MORNING - Arrival
Levi was drowsy from waking up so early at the Honeychurch Hive to meet their fancy escorts to take the Portkey, but now he's wide awake as he gawks at the interior. He thought Tabitha's house was massive, but this place is a goddamn castle. There's so much room to move around and swing his arms. He could probably even do a cartwheel and not hit anything.
His first instinct is to run off to claim the best bedroom for him and Cecil, just as he did at Tabitha's house for them, but he doesn't even know where the bedrooms are and he's certain he'd get lost. Plus... the good bedrooms are probably already taken since they're arrive midway through the week. Unless there are A HUNDRED BEDROOMS in this massive house-- this seems like a reasonable estimate to Levi.
The trance is broken when one of the house elves obediently takes his heavy luggage from him and disappears with it. The concept of House Elves is still strange and uncomfortable to him; he didn't grow up with one, nobody on the island had one, and he had never seen one until Ilvermorny, where he chose to refer to them as the kitchen staff or the cleaning staff. He'd grown used to having them around by the time he got to Gooseberry, but seeing them in a house is jarring even if "House" is in their name. But of course the Ramirezes have them, it's normal for Wizarding families of high ranking to (own???) employee them.
He brushes off the thought and looks to Cecil. "I think I could live in here for three years and nobody would even notice until they heard me prowling in the kitchen at night."

TUESDAY MIDDAY - Arrival
Yowza. Should she be most in awe of the size, decorations, courtyard, or fixtures? Or the house elves? Or the itinerary? Or– She has to be nudged to notice the elves waiting to take their baggage because she's too busy looking at the skylight. She's trying so hard not to gawk and she's telling herself be cool, but she's fighting a losing battle. She nearly gawks at the elves themselves, but covers it up just in time with what she is a convincing and grateful smile.
She turns back to Ty and kisses his shoulder, leaving her lips to rest against the fabric so her voice is conveniently muffled when she suggests, quietly, "We should probably sleep in the same room so neither of us gets lost in the abyss. Buddy system." She's mostly joking.
There's a small gift and thank-you card stowed away in her backpack for Rafael's parents and wow does it seem inadequate right now. She should have used a full piece of bristol board. And lots of sparkle charms. And maybe put it on top of a BMW.

THURSDAY - Breakfast in the courtyard (open to multiple*)
The whole 'being on vacation' thing, on the other hand... that's
an ongoing battlea work in progress. Seated at a table in the courtyard with her knee pulled up against her chest, one of her hands is steadily working the route between a bowl of pineapple and her mouth while the other holds open her Artificing textbook. This is what 'vacation' is supposed to mean, right? Fresh pineapple while you study? Yeah, sounds about right.* [FYI: I didn't know how to word the subject but this thread is open to multiple characters participating in the thread itself, instead of multiple threads branching separately from this original comment. Hopefully that makes sense! Just... eat breakfast together, peeps. (If you want to.)]
THURSDAY - Quinn & Rafael
THURSDAY - Quinn & Rafael
Thursday; The pool; Open! (But this is dumb; I just felt like using this icon as a prompt OK)
Leo doesn't like being in any way incompetent. He hates starting from behind. When he in any way feels that he is, Leo works at it, and corrects it, and then excels. So he's doing laps in the pool, today, poorly. Just to work at something he can fix, in the hopes that maybe next time he comes to Mexico, he could jump off a cliff. It surely has nothing at all to do with the way he's recently come to realize exactly how much he wants to impress Rafael's parents, who have everything. How much he hopes they'll see him as able to catch up to all of this. How scared he is of the consequences, if they don't. Teaching himself to swim is not his way of carving out an inch of control in an intimidating situation. Of course not.
He still gets far too offended when his arms falter in pulling him forward, he sinks and swallows pool water and emerges, choking. It's more embarrassing than harmful, and he can't help but scowl at the offending but very beautiful blue water. Leo quickly pulls himself to the side of the pool, privately sputtering and wills the sun to bake him dry before there's any witnesses around.
Thursday; The pool; Leo is darling and Rafael loves him.
Thursday; The pool; Leo loves him tooo/will swim for him. Someday.
THE BEACH
FRIDAY MORNING - Quinn & Ty
And now they're already at the beach. He blinks at the realization, then laughs sheepishly, then looks at Quinn apologetically, "...so the other half of my birthday present was not telling me to shut up, right? Sorry. But. It means a lot to me, I guess is the point." Releasing her hand, he pushes a hand back through his bleached hair and glances momentarily downward, seeming to hesitate. Then he adds, more quietly, "...it all did."

BEING TOURISTS
Rafael takes everyone out to dinner, overthinks it.
So here they all are, at a nice dinner, with Rafael as on edge as he ever is. As everyone settles into their seats, he watches carefully for reactions.
[OOC: Assume this is happening when everyone who wants to come is here. If your character is 18+ they can order alcohol. The Ramirez family is footing the bill.]
Rafael takes everyone out to dinner, overthinks it.

Rafael & Ricardo
"Rafito. No bebes alcohol," Ricardo immediately points out, incredulous, the picture of brotherly concern.
"No tanto como tú." Rafael takes a very pointed sip.
Ricardo's gaze falls on Leo, a ways across the beach and safely out of earshot. "¿Y que hay de él?"
"No," Rafael says too quickly. "Adiós, Rico. Diviértete." The atmosphere between them is suddenly icy. Rico's latest tactic is to blame all of Rafael's new bad habits on Leo. Rafael doesn't stick around for more needling, He does, however, immediately decide that pettily getting drunk is a good solution to this latest brotherly spat. Ricardo looks solemn in his wake.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TY
(Pretend it says 18, not 28.)
Later in the evening, without any warning, a cake is delivered to the group along with a bottle of champagne. The champagne has a remarkably low alcohol content so that everyone can participate. Rafael decided it was best suited as something symbolic rather than contributing to their inebriation.
Rafael stands once everyone has a glass. "I would like to toast to Ty, my best friend. One of the kindest people I know. Ty, you deserve only good things in your life. I know we will be friends until we are very old, and I am looking forward to seeing all of the amazing things that you accomplish." He puts a hand on Ty's shoulder and squeezes. "To a wonderful friend, a brilliant dancer, a good person. Eres prácticamente mi hermano. ¡Salud!"
THE WEDDING
DRINKING GAMES: They get drunk again, but this time at a reception.

Let's say that fountain's actually an elaborate hottub. I can see the benches in it so why not.
