In the aftermath of what Jade experienced, students are informed of some changes around campus.
  • The buddy system is now mandatory. Being caught alone away from the grounds of the lodge or a campsite will be a punishable offence. If you're unable to find a buddy, staff or an Auror will escort you.

  • Curfew is now 8:30 PM. All students must be at their house campsite by curfew. Staff will be joining prefects for nightly headcounts.

  • MACUSA has insisted on doing additional patrolling along the trails, and Aurors will be seen more frequently from now on. Students are reminded not to bother the Aurors unless they need help or see something that concerns them.

  • Locations such as the Quidditch Pitch, Stables, Artificing Shed, and Greenhouse will be closed unless an adult is present. This is to ensure that no one ends up stranded without a buddy.

  • There are new signs up across campus, reminding students not to leave the trails. If they see something, they are to report it to a prefect or staff member instead of investigating themselves.

The top three runners were:
  1. Clementine Decourt with a time of 0:21:04. She receives a vial of Felix Felicis, good for 24 hours of luck.

  2. Rosemary Stoker with a time of 0:24:28, who at least gets the validation of knowing she outran Sy.

  3. Fern Mufferaw with a time of 0:27:46, who earns an extra dose of fatherly pride from Healer Mufferaw. He's going to be boasting about this for weeks.

  4. Ulysses Quayle with a time of 0:28:32

  5. Casper Kim with a time of 0:29:23

  6. Sylvester Stoker with a time of 0:30:15

Meanwhile, the three worst runners were:
  1. Zachary Zheng who did not complete the marathon, and passed out on the trails. He was discovered by Brother, who scooped him up in his arms and carried him back to the lodge. Zach stirred while being carried, and remembers the scent of pine, and an unearthly voice telling him stories about the creatures that roamed these mountains centuries ago. Keen-minded Zach can probably guess he's talking about the ice age. Healer Mufferaw takes over once they reach the lodge, and assesses that Zach has heat exhaustion. He's made to spend the rest of the afternoon resting and rehydrating.

  2. Riley Stamper with a time of 1:26:50, who was the last one to cross the finish line. Mr. Thorn walked with her the last leg, insisting she can do it! It's just a liiiiittle bit further!!!

  3. Reece Downing with a time of 1:15:49, who was given an enthusiastic round of applause by Mr. Merrill, who them proceeded to dump a bucket of water from the refreshments table over his head like he was the winning athlete at a Muggle sports game.

  4. Balthazar Doyle with a time of 1:10:42

  5. Adeline Foster-Hayes with a time of 1:09:49
Mr. Merrill's just relieved that none of his students actually expired during the marathon, but maybe he should make you all jog more. Hmmmm.

Prom court voting opens today, with a large, tamper-proof ballot box located in plain view in the atrium. The walls of the lodge are covered in posters promoting one student or another, and more are sure to appear in the following weeks.

It’s announced that the theme will be... Casinos and heists! The teachers seem a bit uncertain of how to implement this without breaking the "no gambling" rule, but it seems like the focus will be on playing either thieves or James Bond. Card suits and poker chips adorn the announcement posters.

Of course, Event Committee is going to be hard at work creating an unforgettable experience. Just like last year, prom will be taking place off campus. "We're not taking you to Las Vegas," Mr. Hightower is quick to tell overexcited students.
